Witnessed by guests from the government, Hospital Authority, universities, and patient groups, the College of Pharmacy Practice (“CPP”) was inaugurated on 22nd June 2013. The ceremony was officiated by the guest of honor, Professor Sophia Chan, the Under Secretary for Food and Health.
Professor Chan congratulated the CPP and delivered an inspirational keynote speech. She emphasized the importance of specialization in pharmacy practice, structured continuing education, and the development of pharmacy specialties in achieving cost-effective, safe drug treatments for patients.
During the ceremony, Dr. Benjamin Lee was announced as the new chairman of the CPP. Professor Vincent Lee and Professor Ian Wong were conferred as Honorary Fellows. Twelve founding members were awarded Founding Fellowships, and eleven distinguished pharmacists became the first batch of Fellows of the CPP.
History and Background of the CPP
Under the visionary leadership of Professor Vincent Lee and Professor Kenneth Lee, the CPP was formed in 2009 as a working group to advance the scope of pharmacy practice in Hong Kong. With the dedication of a group of pharmacists, the CPP was officially established in September 2010.
The CPP is a non-profit, independent professional body aiming to ensure the highest professional standards for pharmacy practice in Hong Kong. It provides formal accreditation for specialist training and aims to become a statutory accreditation body for advanced pharmacy practice.
The CPP has developed an accreditation framework for pharmacists to become specialists or fellows. It has also initiated the “Advanced Pharmacotherapy Workshop” to assist pharmacists in preparing for international pharmacy certification examinations.
